Private Cloud Developer Nebula Names SVP of Global Field Operations
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Private cloud solutions developer Nebula announced on Tuesday it has appointed former Dell executive Dave Withers to senior vice president of global field operations.
Withers is a veteran of multiple successful start-ups and storage firms. He has a proven track record building sales and field operations teams from the ground up, establishing strategic partnerships, and driving market expansion for disruptive technologies.
“Nebula’s mission is to ignite a new era of global innovation by making big data and large scale computing accessible to every business in the world,” said Chris C. Kemp, CEO of Nebula and co-founder of the OpenStack project. “Dave’s experience building multiple start-ups into successful enterprise companies brings us one giant leap closer to accomplishing that mission.”
Prior to joining Nebula, Withers led Dell’s storage business in the US, Canada and Latin America. He joined Dell via the acquisition of storage technology vendor Ocarina Networks, where he served as vice president of global sales and business development.
Prior to Ocarina Networks, he was the senior director of business development at Isilon Systems leading up to a successful IPO and acquisition by EMC for $2.2 billion in 2010.
Nebula is a developer of a hardware appliance that allows businesses to build a massive private computing cloud from hundreds or thousands of inexpensive servers.
