February 7, 2012 -- Web hosting provider Webzilla announce on Tuesday it has received the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard data security standard, having successfully undergone an audit and received version 1.2.1 certification. The company said that the hardware, software and business processes fully met the security requirements, reassuring those financial institutions that must comply with PCI DSS that they can rely on Webzilla for their hosting needs.

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Windstream Hosted Solutions announced on Wednesday that more than a dozen of its data centers nationwide have completed and passed the SSAE 16, SOC 1 Type II audit, demonstrating to its existing and potential customers a continuing commitment to ensuring the security of their systems and data.

Windstream Hosted Solutions’ data centers were found to be in compliance with the SSAE 16, SOC 1 Type II standard, as developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

The SSAE audits replace the established SAS 70 audits with a full checklist of internal controls and procedures that the AICPA says “are either the same as, or in some cases, more rigorous than those required by SAS 70.”

The SSAE test reviews a wide range of controls focused on the security of data in regards to governmental financial regulations, and determines whether those controls are correctly operating, suitably designed, and operating effectively.

“SSAE compliance demonstrates our commitment to delivering an industry-leading level of protection to our customers, who are colocating data and equipment, or using our data centers to outsource all or a part or their entire IT infrastructure through cloud and
managed services,” said Chris Nicolini, Windstream Hosted Solutions’ vice president of data center operations. “The compliance places us at the forefront of companies in this critical area, allowing us to focuson the delivery of smart solutions to our clients, coupled with the personalized service they have come to expect.”

A majority of Windstream Hosted Solutions’ data centers throughout the country are included in the SSAE audit, including facilities in Boston, Raleigh, Charlotte, Philadelphia, and Milwaukee.

Windstream provides a range of hosting and data center services, including managed hosting, cloud computing, colocation, storage, and disaster recovery. In December, Windstream acquired web hosting provider PAETEC Holding for $863 million.
