Colocation Firm CyrusOne Opens Singapore Data Center
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Colocation provider CyrusOne announced on Monday that it has opened a new colocation data center in Singapore.
This news comes a week after CyrusOne acquired a 30-acre parcel of land north of Dallas to build a 700,000 square foot data center. CyrusOne also recently announced plans to build a data center in San Antonio.
Its latest announcement is a break away from its recent focus on expanding its presence in the Texas market. In an earlier interview with CyrusOne chief operating officer Michael Duckett, he said CyrusOne would not expand abroad until its US growth plans were met.
“We’re expanding into Singapore because it is one of the world’s leading energy markets. We have a long history serving Fortune 1000 oil and gas customers, and establishing our presence there enables our customers to mirror the same performance successes they’ve come to expect from a data center provider,” Gary Wojtaszek, CEO and president, CyrusOne said in a statement.
According to the press release, the Singapore facility provides customers with 3,200 square feet of space, 150 watts per square foot, and a 100 percent guarantee SLA on uninterupted power with N+1 and 2N parallel redundancies.
CyrusOne is headquartered in Houston, Texas, and has 21 facilities across the US and London.
Recently, AWS Direct Connect expanded to Singapore through an Equinix data center.
